THIRD YEAR FINAL DESIGN PROJECT
Taking inspiration from the historical book shops around athens I designed a printing and binding insitute. I used classic prining techniques to embelish my final drawings and models, this focused largely on embossing, debossing and gold leaf.
DISSERTATION _ A CAGED EXSISTENCE
Using theories such as Baudelaire’s l’ennui - a feeling of dissatisfaction or boredom - and writings such as Donna Haraways ‘When Species Meet’ when she questions Whom and what do I touch when I touch my dog?’, I was able to discuss the evolution of zoo enclosures, and how architects used different methods to create an environment for the animal which attempted to solve, or displace, ennui or the counter gaze, and create a more convincing environment for the animal to live in and capture our gaze as the viewer.
